Even if you're not going with them, we have a great resource to share with you about the kind of gear to pack when you travel. Don't forget that registration for study abroad courses starts November 6th, which is this coming Monday. This year's study abroad courses are traveling to Italy (SOC 103), Vietnam (CLT 110), Dominican Republic (NUR 111), Italy (CLT 110), Vienna and Prague (SOC 111), and Brussels and Amsterdam (CLT 110). If you are interested in registering for a study abroad course, you must first contact the lead instructor for an interview. List of courses and lead instructors can be found here. This past Monday, was the George study abroad fair (first photo) and today was the Stanton study abroad fair (second photo). At the study abroad fairs, YOU students get the scoop on upcoming Delaware Tech study abroad destinations and the scholarship opportunities that can help you get there. It's a great chance to meet with the instructors leading this year’s programs and students who have been abroad in the past to hear first-hand what studying abroad can do for you! Light refreshments are also served. These fairs are an excellent opportunity to figure out what study abroad programs are right for you! Even if you missed the Stanton and George study abroad fairs, there are two more chances to attend at the Terry and Owens campuses! Terry's study abroad fair is TOMORROW (Wednesday, October 17th) from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Terry Building Lobby. Owens' study abroad fair is Thursday, October 18th from 11:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge (SSC). Hear about all of the great course offerings from instructors and preview them here. What are Global Understanding events? Well, the College presents a series that features programs and workshops free to the community, Delaware Tech students and staff. Global Series presentations and performances are generally 60 minutes long, and provide a personal perspective on a global issue, region, culture, or people. Every year, several Delaware Tech students visit countries around the world as part of their study abroad courses. Study abroad courses are for a grade and anyone from any major can take these courses. We also have several Delaware Tech study abroad scholarships that are available for students. Now, let's hear a little about each study abroad course. For more information, you can go to the study abroad website. Without further ado, here are the six study abroad courses for 2017-2018. There are two courses to Italy: 1) The first is a foodie's delight! It is a Cross-Cultural Immersion (CLT 110) course sponsored by the Culinary Arts department. It travels from May 20-31, 2018. For more information, please contact Joe Sakers at [email protected]. 2) The second Italy course is entitled Sustainability & Society (SOC 111) and travels from May 19-30, 2018. It is sponsored by the Energy and Social Sciences departments. For more information, contact Dan Kasper at [email protected]. 3) The Human Services department is sponsoring a course to Vietnam. The travel Dates are from March 29th to April 10, 2018. This course is called Cross-Cultural Immersion (CLT 110) and for more information, contact Michelle Smith at [email protected]. 4) Out of the Business department, there is a Cross-Cultural Immersion (CLT 110) course that travels from May 30-June 7, 2018. For more information, please contact Heather Madden at [email protected]. 5) The Nursing department is sponsoring a Cross-Cultural Competency & Health (NUR 111) course that will explore the health care sector in the Dominican Republic. It travels from March 30-April 8, 2018.
