When you study abroad, you'll get to experience the culture first-hand through your great interactions with the native people of the countries you visit.
However, culture comes in several different forms, including television and cinema. At some point you'll likely be exposed to perhaps a drama, a sitcom, a movie, or a documentary, among other possibilities while you are in your country of study.
In this day and age of technology, you could even watch these shows with subtitles on YouTube, Netflix, Prime, or any other streaming service--you don't necessarily have to know the language.
Here are a list of the top binge-worthy TV shows available on these services that are NOT from the US. Have you seen any? What do you think?

Did you watch "The Killing" on AMC? It's based on the Danish detective series "Forbrydelsen."
Does anyone remember "Ugly Betty?" It was adapted from a TV show from Colombia. There are several foreign shows adapted in the US, but sometimes, the originals are better!
Or who could forget Showtime's "Homeland," based on the Israeli series "Prisoners of War?"
There are too many to list here, but it's really fascinating if you look into how many TV shows here had foreign beginnings. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to see some of the originals when you study abroad. Check them out if you're interested!
