As the International Education Director for the College, these past weeks have been filled with anticipation and excitement sprinkled with nervousness. It seems like only yesterday we were in the final preparation stages for two of the study abroad courses to begin service projects in Vietnam and Peru. It was amazing to work with the faculty and students as they got ready (and very excited) for their programs.
On the morning of March 24th, 12 students and 2 faculty left for a 12 day journey to help children in schools and orphanages in Vietnam. It is always so exciting and rewarding to see students off on this journey! The following day, we saw 19 students and 3 faculty off to Peru as well! It's hard to believe that they're back already from such successful and amazing journeys. Pretty soon we'll be writing about the students heading off to our other study abroad destinations!

Studying abroad can be a wonderful and enriching experience. At the same time, I'm sure there are students and also parents out there alike who might be worried thinking about the unexpected events that occurred in Belgium a few weeks ago. However, our first concern at Delaware Tech is always the safety of our students. As a new mom, I found this blog post on GoOverseas.com really interesting- a view from parents about safety and study abroad in light of recent world events. Also, it has great tips for those staying back home to hold down the fort while your loved ones are abroad. Take a look: Parents Speak Up on Overseas Travel Abroad. It's certainly good food for thought.
